General Discussion
To me, my mental health is something that cannot be compromised by anything else. It must take priority over everything else to function effectively and happily. My mental health plays a pivotal role in my life because it is something that I constantly struggle with due to many factors, including school and outside activities. Staying up later than midnight at night takes a heavy toll on me, and weekends are usually my time to recharge, but I feel lethargic and not great during the week.
Physical, mental, and social health are interconnected, so when I don't get enough sleep, I don't have a great day, and my mental health spirals. If my mental health is bad, my social life may be the same, leading to a repetitive cycle of bad to worse throughout my week.
I try my best to care for myself above all else, especially when it seems to be the last thing on my list of priorities. Therefore, while I usually procrastinate taking care of myself over schoolwork, I understand how important it is to function well. I know that if I don't get enough sleep because I am studying, it could affect my performance on a test. My mental health is the most essential part of the triangle of physical, social, and mental health, as it is the most volatile.
Mental health is my everyday life. It is my gateway past and constructor of stress, anxiety, and depression. Therefore, when I am at the worst I have been in a long time, I remember all I need is a recharge. Some relaxation and lifted weight off my shoulders to get me up and running again. When I feel good, I look good. When I feel good, I do well. When I feel well, I can do my best. When I feel well, everything falls in order. And that is my life.
